Our History
The funeral home was founded in the early 1890's by W.S. Oldham at the corner of Irvine and Second street.
In April of 1929 Jack Turpin became a co-owner, and Turpin was added to the name, becoming Oldham, Maupin, and Turpin. Then in 1933 Jack Turpin bought out Mr. Maupin, and it became Oldham and Turpin. Then in '36 James S. Lackey bought Mr. Oldham's shares resulting in Turpin and Lackey. 1939 Jack Turpin purchased Mr. Lackey's interest becoming the sole owner  of Turpin Funeral Home. In June of 1946 the funeral home was moved to it's current location at 237 N. 2nd Street. In 1960 Turpin Funeral Home operated four air-conditioned ambulances free of charge 24/7, 365 days a year. In 1981 Coleman Turpin, Jack's son became owner and operator. In 2009 S.D. Fritz purchased the business and it became Turpin Vice, and Fritz. 2010 the name was changed to Fritz and Turpin. In March of 2013, the funeral home was purchased by Jason Abner. In April of 2013, with Coleman Turpin beginning a much deserved retirement after years of service to his community, Jason changed the name to Heritage Funeral Home.
